Beginning of configuration questions for perl5.

Checking echo to see how to suppress newlines…
…using -n.
The star should be here–>*

First let’s make sure your kit is complete. Checking…
ls: cannot access config_h.SH: No such file or directory
ls: cannot access Policy_sh.SH: No such file or directory

THIS PACKAGE SEEMS TO BE INCOMPLETE.

You have the option of continuing the configuration process, despite the
distinct possibility that your kit is damaged, by typing 'y’es. If you
do, don’t blame me if something goes wrong. I advise you to type 'n’o
and contact the author (perlbug@perl.org).

Is there a reason why you need this older perl version? If you can live with version 5.12.3, just type:

su -c 'zypper in -t pattern devel_perl'

Two questions (well three actually)
(1) Where did you get it?
(2) Have you carefully read the contents of the INSTALL file and
followed its instructions? (if so, please post both the file and your
command log)
(3) (as please try again asked) Do you really need that version?

perl-5.8.4 version was worked good for Solaris machine, but i got error while installing the same version in OpenSuse-11.4,

but my friend suggested me to install perl-5.8.9 , when i tried to configure it with theard activation , i found a error during “make”

please do help me in overcoming of this error . . and am need of getting the version with .

#/usr/local/bin/perl -v

This is perl, v5.8.9 built for x86_64-linux-thread-multi-ld

Hi
Two things you probably want to use an older version of gcc (export CC and CXX) plus in your configure command to specify the prefix to point at /usr/local/. You don’t show the error during make so it’s hard to see from here…

Why the specific version, you need to provide a few more details on what you are doing (your configure and make commands) and post the output of the error {don’t forget to use code tags), if the output is extensive then use SUSE Paste and set the delete to never.

Hi All,

It has been along time since I have run SuSE and I have just come back. It has been longer since I have played / installed with tar.gz packages. I am running openSuSE 12.1 with the KDE 4.0 Desktop and downloaded the file gnomad2-2.9.6.tar.gz, which is in Downloads. I have extracted and read both the Readme and Todo texts. But keep getting the error message:

No such file or Directory when I try to cd to that package. I have been Googling for a while and installed the following with zypper:

libmtp libatk-1.0.so.0 libc.so.6 libdl.so.2 libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0 libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.so.0 libglib-2.0.so.0 libgmodule-2.0.so.0 libgobject-2.0.so.0 libgthread-2.0.so.0 libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 libid3tag.so.0 libm.so.6 libmtp.so.4 libnjb.so.5 libpango-1.0.so.0 libpangox-1.0.so.0 libpangoxft-1.0.so.0 libpthread.so.0 libusb-0.1.so.4 libz.so.1 rpmlib

In the “old days” I just moved tar.gz files to my Desktop and everything worked with the install. But, now I can’t move things to my Desktop.

HELP! And, thanks in advance for your replies.
