I went to >systemsettings>workspace theme>look and feel and click on get new looks, searched oxygen and only this
https://api.kde-look.org/p/1084930
result, click on install it seems to install, but it doesn’t appear to be selected.
how can I have the oxygen theme??
In 42.2 I have KDE and in Configure Desktop ==> Desktop Theme ==> Get New themes ==> scroll to “Oxygen Original Plasma theme” ==> click to Install the tar.gz offering. The button “Install” should say its installed. Then go back to desktop theme RHS broad listing and click on Oxygen.
That worked for me. Nice looking theme, think I’ll keep it for a while.
Strange that it didn’t work for you. Maybe try again.
yes, in Desktop ==> Desktop Theme ==> Get New themes ==> scroll to “Oxygen Original Plasma theme” ==> click to Install the tar.gz it works, but in Desktop ==> Look and feel==> Get New themes it soesn’t works
Yes that’s irritating.
The offerings I see in “Look and Feel” are Breeze, Breeze Dark and openSUSE and I cannot get any of those trio to respond.
The only way I can get a response is the pathway I laid out earlier. At least I get to switch back and forth between the nine themes on offer in the Desktop Theme listings. Details are available under “Details”. For me that’s adequate. But I see your point and suggest that you report the problem as a bug at Bugzilla
If you are looking for the “Oxygen” look and feel (and not just the desktop theme which is part of plasma-framework itself), install the package “oxygen5-style”.
This also includes the “Oxygen” widget style btw, so is necessary anyway if you want to have your applications look like in KDE4.
And no, this is not available at the “Get New stuff” servers for download. (you’d need to compile the widget style anyway, this is written in C++, it’s not just some image files or similar)
The “Oxygen” desktop theme is available right away though, without downloading/installing anything. It is shipped with Plasma5.
I do notice that the one you mention is called “Oxygen Original Plasma theme”. If you do want to have that one, you have to do what you write.
But I have no idea what the difference to the normal “Oxygen” might be.
A “look and feel” is something different though.
It contains a couple of settings to change the whole desktop appearance and the (KDE) applications, not just the desktop theme.
You can do (nearly) the same without installing a “look and feel”, it’s just more work. You need to adjust all settings, like icon theme, color scheme, desktop theme, widget style, … manually. And there’s no way to get a difference lock screen appearance that way, this is defined by the look and feel.
Thanks to Wolfi’s efforts (despite suffering from my complaints), I’m happy at last:

In the System Settings:
- Choose the openSUSE Theme and colours;
- Choose the Air openSUSE Design;
- Choose the Oxygen symbols;
- Choose the Oxygen style and window decorations.
Please note that, the LibreOffice Oxygen icons are only available from the KDE:Frameworks5:LTS repository.
Please note that, the scalable (.svgz) Oxygen icons take 337M in /usr/share/icons/oxygen/base/scalable/ – the “flat” (2-D) breeze icon set take “only” 61M in /usr/share/icons/breez*/ but, hard-core Oxygen (3-D) fans can live with that amount of disk-usage.
Selecting the “Oxygen” look and feel should do all that at once, except that it will take the “Oxygen” desktop theme instead of “openSUSE Air” (and I think it will also set the oxygen color scheme, not openSUSE’s).
Please note that, the LibreOffice Oxygen icons are only available from the KDE:Frameworks5:LTS repository.
Are you sure?
I cannot see any libreoffice package in KDE:Frameworks5:LTS at all, and it would actually be news to me.
There actually is no need for KDE:Frameworks5:LTS to achieve an Oxygen/KDE4 look.
Please note that you should not need the scalable oxygen icons at all, unless you want to use really huge icons > 256x256 pixels (ok, maybe with HiDPI systems I suppose).
I never installed that on any of my (KDE4) systems.
Ooops, you’re right! – it’s in “noarch Update” – I moved over to the LTS repository and installed Oxygen5 in one foul swoop.
I moved over to Plasma 5.8.5 for other reasons – and, Oxygen5 is also stable here.
I’ll try removing the scalable package to see if any differences appear.
