how to install new kernel 3.14.*

Hi everyone.lol!
Every time i try to update my system i receive a message telling me that it’s not possible because of kernel 3.14:

No se encuentra el archivo ‘./x86_64/kernel-desktop-3.14.0-2.1.gfa168d7.x86_64.rpm’ en el medio ‘http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard

Could you, please, help me install the kernel?
Thanks in advancerotfl!

Just a comment. When the system language is not English, you should do,
in order to post here, like this:

minas-tirith:~ # LANG=en_US.UTF-8 zypper info kvm
Loading repository data...
Warning: Repository 'openSUSE-11.4-Update' appears to outdated. Consider
using a different mirror or server.
Reading installed packages...

That way we can all read it, regardless of local languages of sender and
reader. It is not a permanent change, it only applies to one command.

Another comment: When pasting computer commands and such, please use a
CODE BLOCK, so that the forum software doesn’t do silly things like
converting URLS to tiny urls or otherwise hide or alter the commands you
entered. You get them by clicking on the ‘#’ button in the forum editor.
See photo

And… We also like to see everything, from the command prompt with the
command that you are running and the complete output to the next prompt

  • so that we know exactly what your are doing

Actually, what it says, in Spanish, is that the requested kernel was not
found in that URL. Which is true, that kernel is not there. You can not
install what does not exist.

Did you, perchance, disable automatic refresh of that repository?

Bring the Penguins Back! https://features.opensuse.org/316767
openSUSE 13.1
KDE 4.13.0

To make the typing easyer:

LANG=C zypper info kvm

does that also.

Thank you very much for all of your replies.lol!

As a superuser I typed:

jazami:/home/antonio # zypper update

when I received the message.

And typing the command you indicated me I obtain as output:

jazami:/home/antonio # LANG=C zypper info kvm

Repository: openSUSE-13.1-Update
Name: kvm
Version: 1.6.0-3.4.1
Arch: x86_64
Vendor: openSUSE
Installed: No
Status: not installed
Installed Size: 15.4 KiB
Summary: Kernel-based Virtual Machine
Description:
KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) is virtualization software for
Linux. It was originally developed to leverage the hardware virtualization
extensions provided by Intel VT and AMD-V technologies. Since then, a few
other platforms have also included support for KVM virtualization.

Since the qemu package now supports kvm, this package includes only left-overs
from the former kvm package that for various reasons do not make sense to be
placed in the qemu package.

I do not know if I disabled the automatic refresh of that repository (at least, I didn’t do it deliberately):shame:

Waiting for your reply. Thanks;)

Well, I reed this message as that there is something wrong with your Packman repo. Please post

Try for yourself, that URL does not exist. It is not “13.01” but “13.1”

Change that one to 13.1

Remove this one.

Change that one to 13.1

You have to be more careful with the repos you use… and after you
change the repos, you will need to verify all the packages in “red”, ie,
make sure you do not have any package from the removed/changed repos.

As Carlos explained, it is a big mess.

IMHO you should reconsidder the way you upgrade from one openSUSE version to the next, There are even relics of 12.2 there!

I greatly appreciate your support. I already made the changes and was able to update, starting with kernel 13.4.1-1.1See you next post!rotfl!

Hi ;). Actually, I made a fresh install of this distro. The repos came along with the iso image. Anyway,I made the changes suggested by Carlos and was able to update.
I thank you guys all for your support in this one. See you next post!rotfl!

That can not be true. I never heard or experienced that repos of other versions were installed with an official ISO image.

And Packman is also even never installed by the installation, you have to do that yourself. When that is done using YaST > Software > Repostories > Add > Community repos > Packman, there is no such typo as you had. And wen it is done using the one-click method of the Multi-Mediua forum here, that is also flawless.

Impossible, no way.

The iso image for 13.1 will never activate duplicate repos, nor repos
for 12.3 as you had.And you had some repos manually installed, like the
science one for 12.3, and packman (misspelled), and libdvdcss for
12.2… Nope, all those were your doing.

Maybe you used the one-click feature and were not careful about what it
did or where exactly you clicked.
