I guess that to avoid any problem the best thing to do is deconnecting any previous hd so the installation will see it as sda.
I am doing right now, I will keep you updated.
For the guy with the laptop, if it works, just buy an enclosure with usb attachment, 5 bucks and do the same procedure.
I will get back to you guys in an hour…
Other question! I am using ubuntu remix for mini laptop in a ibm x23, previous with xp professional. I noticed though that the opening of the windows are really slow, like the system is slower than in xp. is this normal? I was expecting linux being faster than windows, I am kinda disappointed… can it be because I have to install specific drivers more optimized? for now I just installed the system and ubuntu took care of everything
ati mobility radeon, there is no written anything more…
I can tell you that the model is a think pad x23 2662 e7u. but if you go on the website, although it allows you to select the linux drivers, then it gives you the exe of windows xp… I guess they didn’t really support this model!I guess is a driver problem or the remix version which uses too much ram.
for the other problem, I am right now writing from the other laptop SUCCESS!!!
so this was the solution, just deconnect all the hds from my desktop so the installation saw this laptop hd like the only one driver. when it asked to reboot i put the driver back to my notebook and everything startup flawless. This version of ubuntu, the classic one and not the remix works much better on this laptop. probably it has all the drivers the notebook need!
thanks a lot guys for your help and btw we should write a solution online since this can be a problem with an easy solution. I simply bought an eclosure from 5 bucks, use another desktop with bios usb capabilities, deconnect the hard disks over there and everything went perfect.
Hi, I advise you to follow my last reply, I succeeded!
so buy an usb enclosure (5bucks) and put the laptop hd.
use a desktop with boot usb capabilies, deconnect its hds and boot with only the usb eclosure inside
install linux on that (only) drive of your system
when it asks to reboot, reboot but shutdown. remove everything and put the laptop hd back in the laptop. start the laptop and you will have a perfect linux system
