Hi. I’m looking forward to official release of kde 4.3, which will come out in a few days and therefore I wonder how will we install it. Will it be available via Yast->Software management? Moreover, will we be able to preserve the current installed version 4.2 in case we might not like the new one? Thanks.
ive tried following your guide but all I get when trying to install 4.2 first is a load of conflicts which seem to go on forever.
Its got me pulling my hair out as I installed opensuse and upgraded to 4.3 yesterday by using the one click installation (here)and there were no conflicts, in fact I dont even remember upgrading to 4.2 first. But due to me messing up my partition I had to reinstall tonight and now I cant even install 4.2.
It would seem Ive ticked a box somewhere or updated something that ive forgotten about yesterday which Ive forgotten to do today but I cant for the life of me think what it is.
Any idea why im getting these conflicts? Is there a way to tell suse to sort any conflicts out itself?

You had conflicts likely because you did NOT do EXACTLY as the guide directs. Most likely, you didn’t get the repo priority correct. Though there is nearly always some conflicts to work through.
OneClick installers in my experience lead to a not happy place.

oss and non-oss should be 120 priority
and where did all those repo’s come from? Disable all except oss, non-oss, updates and the kde42’ repos

You should only use the kde repos for either the 4.3 or the 4.2 upgrade not both.
Remove #1 and 3
and you will get kde4.3

Change the current #4 to the community kde4.3

I was getting yast hanging a lot and I wasnt happy with all the messing ive done so Im curently installing the live cd with 4.2 pre installed from here

Just don’t go loading a stack of repo’s you don’t need.
