that’s because you don’t have the Packman repo’s set up in Yast
see http://wiki.links2linux.de/wiki/PackMan:FAQ_(en)
Suse 11.1 x64, Kde 4.2beta, Opera 10.x weekly
Start it with
java -jar jarFile
Hi
is this in the the konsole window?
Sorry newbie to installing - not using?
i have a .jar file on the desktop.
I have seen a rpm on some sites but not on the site of the writer of jbidwatcher.
Further advice would be appreciated.
Like what to do from the .jar file on the desktop?
Thanks
Start with the same command from Konsole. and include the patch.
java -jar /home/<userName>/Desktop/hereIsMyJarFile.jar
ps.: it’s available from packman (as google01103 posted above): 1.0.2-0.pm.1 openSUSE 11.1 noarch. If you have some problems install it with YaST.
Hi
The first link is a dead end.
I can get JBidWatcher-1.0.2-0.pm.1.noarch.rpm
from the second site but this out of date really?
If I download the rpm what do i do with it?
Thanks
If you want to install it from rpm you don’t need to download it directly.
Add the packman package repository to your repo managger, described here: Add Package Repositories to YaST - openSUSE.
Here are the package repositories:Additional YaST Package Repositories - openSUSE. Choose the closest server and the right opensuse version.
Good luck.
Yeah, it’s OK accept it, otherwise you can’t install.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Hi,
Up and running.
Thanks Again
Glad to hear, good Jbidwatchering!
Hi
Had to remove the jbidwatcher from packman as it was not the latest version and has errors due to Ebay changing its database.
So I used the above to install
JBidwatcher-2.0beta11.jar
but it seems to run from the window.
It works fine but when closed.
There is no program in the Kmenu and does not run when ALT+F2 brings up the run command, and I type in the command?
Should there be a command after
java -jar /home/<userName>/Desktop/hereIsMyJarFile.jar
to save the program?
Thanks
To create a shortcut in KDE4 right click in a folder (where you have read, write permission -examlple in your home/userName direcoty create a folder called Applications). Select Link To Application. Fill out the boxes if you want but the most important is part is under the Application tab. Here into the command field write this:
java -jar /home/<userName>/patch/to/the/bidwatcher.jar
Replace the typo with the correct patch. And make sure that you have included the full patch!
In Gnome i don’t know how to make this. Search the forums or Google for creating Gnome shortcuts.
Good luck.
I am using KDE4 and YAST.
Thanks
Hi
Yes that seems to work, in permissions I ticked executable and moved the icon to the dektop.
I will re-boot but works ok now.
Thanks
Yeah, of course executable - sorry i forgot to say And you can move freely because the patch isn’t relative.
yes thanks for your help
all working, with latest version and icon on desktop
Thanks
