how to i install grub on to suse root partition . grub tends to destroy my mbr .i am a linux newbie and i want to triple boot Windows,Mac OSX, and linux
During install after the partition scheme selection you are presented with what will be changed. Normally one of the pieces of info will be to install grub in MBR simply change that to point to root.

There is another entry usually selected by default to write generic code to
the MBR, it has to be deselected, too.
