how to install avi codec?

i wanted to play avi file with totem but it errored as: “faid to connect stream: invalid argument”

i think there might be a problem with avi codecs. isn’t that?

what to do now?

There are a few threads here and there regarding ‘mplayer’ or ‘vlc’. I
use the former, because I was introduced to it first, but hear great
things about the latter as well. mplayer is available from the Packman
repository (Google will help if you are not familiar with it) and VOC
may be as well, but if not it is available online anyway (Google for
‘voc media player’).

Good luck.
