How would I go about to install an older version kernel (like a kernel version 3.6 or even a kernel from 12.2) on 12.3? Reason I need to this is that since 3.7 the Broadcom driver wl gives kernel panics and I have one of those wifi chipsets?
Are you sure this is the best solution?
How did you determine the panic? And what were the symptoms.
Are you using Network Manager Control? As opposed to ifup. We recommend you do.
Are you sure ‘wl’ is your only option? I mean, are you sure you can’t use b43?

Thanks for helping out so much in community The kernel panic is difficult to miss as the laptop jumps to a console (like when pressing ctrl+alt+F1) and is then frozen ;). At the bottom of the screen is written kernel panic: kms_kernel_helper with a few lines above it (wl). here is a link to some other posts: Kernel Panic caused by wl (broadcom_wl) / Kernel & Hardware / Arch Linux Forums I am using NM. If I use b43 my wifi keeps on disconnecting every 2 seconds and cannot keep the password (it asks me for the password continuously). I have been running Kubuntu and had the same issue with 13.04 and kernel panics as per: Bug #292450 “Broadcom STA/wl driver causes random kernel panics” : Bugs : linux-restricted-modules package : Ubuntu and by downgrading to a 3.4 kernel all was resolved. Sorry for posting all of this without line breaks but for some reason my enter button doesn’t want to insert line breaks (using IE10 atm)

Don’t know anything about this, but it is posted in the wrong place.
This isn’t a question about an application! (1) It’s about networking
and (2) it’s a kernel panic.
I suggest that (1) the discussion is moved to the networking forum and
(2) that the OP raises a bugzilla
