how to install a network activity icon

Anybody know how I can install a network activity icon at the lower-right corner of my screen, like the one in Windows when traffic on Internet the icon will flash?
I am using opensuse 11.0 and Gnome 2.22. I have it before but for some reason it’s gone.

Instead of just an icon that blinks, try installing ‘gkrellm’. It’s a
nice monitor for many things in your computer . . .

Hi, I just had a quick look at gkrellm, looks great!
As to only monitor network activity you may look at “knetstats”, this is what I personally use.

The fedora src rpm will compile under opensuse 11 without any issues. While I encourage you to compile the rpm yourself for those who don’t install the compiler and devel packages due to space a precompiled x86_64 rpm is available at 2shared - download knetstats-1.6.1-4.1.x86_64.rpm
