how to install a driver OR change brightness via terminal

Hi, im kinda new to linux, I’m trying to get the brightness control to work in open suse on my toshiba convertible ultrabook u920t, at the moment the brightness can not be changed via the keyboard or from the slider in the battery settings menu.

i searched around on toshiba’s website and found a link to this website:

Linux Information for Toshiba PC

as you can see on this page there is a driver available for download which has something to do with brightness control, but I don’t know how to install drivers ive never had to do it before, can someone explain how to do it please?

Alternatively, is there a way to change the screen brightness by copy and pasting some command into terminal?

thanks

That Page Link is too old. Drivers are built into the Linux Kernel. Read up on how to upgrade your Kernel: openSUSE and Installing New Linux Kernel Versions - Blogs - openSUSE Forums
