Hi! Ive just bought an Ausus p7131 tv card. How to get it working in Suse?
Just check if the driver is loaded or not. I think it uses the saa7134 driver.
Alright, so first I ran TVcard settings in Yast control panel and it look like this:

so I guess, that means, that the driver is loaded.
Then I press the “Edit” button, then TV channels and then scanned for channels and the result was this:

Then I installed mythtv from this tutorial: Opensuse 10.3 - MythTV then scanned for channels in mythtv. It founded something, I’m not sure what, but when I tried to watch TV in Mythtv, the result was this: http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/7806/mythtv.th.png](http://img22.imageshack.us/i/mythtv.png/)
Then I installed Xawtv and TVtime, but I’m not able to run both of these apps, it appears black window and it immediately disappears.
Try Kaffeine. I find that works “out of the box”. It only works with digital TV though.
i have only analog tv, so Kaffeine did not work.
wow now I know why I am not getting anything from Kaffeine,
What is a good alternative for watching analog cable ATSC??
something slick and easy to config would be great!!
my card has never worked in linux until today, getting close.
Hi
Install the dvb tools and mplayer (kmplayer?), run a scan for
example via;
scan /usr/share/dvb/atsc/us-NTSC-center-frequencies-8VSB -o zap | tee ~/channels.conf
You need to look in the /usr/share/dvb/atsc/ to change for your area.
Then if you copy the channels.conf into the ~/.mplayer directory it
will be recognized.

Thanks but I am a little confused,
the scan resulted in 1 item found, but the confusion is …
“in the /usr/share/dvb/atsc/ to change for your area.” i could only find us-ATSC-center- freq…but it is a text file not a “channels.conf” file,
there is a file named config in the .mplayer folder but it is empty.
can you be more specific for a noobie
