How to enable wireless card?

Hi, from the sounds of it this kind of thing gets posted all the time, so apologies in advance, I swear I have tried as much as I can.

Is there a straighforward step by step tutorial type thing on how to get my wireless card working with openSUSE 11? If it makes a difference, the computer doesn’t have the internet as the only way for it to get online is through wireless. I think the card is recognised, it shows up on the network listing along with an ethernet card. I have tried config settings but I’m not sure if I’m putting the correct settings in or if I am, how to connect to networks.
I have downloaded some drivers (don’t know if I need them) but can’t figure out installing them.

Any help would be massively appreciated because everything else is going quite nicely and beign away from windows is plain lovely…

cheers.

have a look here, there are several topics
HOWTOs - openSUSE

Thanks for the very quick reply!

I’ve had a look through those a few times. There’s no tick next to the Ralink RT2500 for suse 11.0, but I have downloaded the current driver and one from their official site. But I can’t for the life of me figure out how to install them. Same goes for Ndiswrapper.

The madwifi, I don’t think I can use as the computer can only access the internet wirelessly.

And the connecting article seems to refer to the KDE environment and I cant follow it running GNOME.

Thanks, I have that downloaded but I don’t know how to install it. There’s no HowTo for openSUSE on their site either :frowning:

hope this helps

I went through the add programs option and targetted the downloaded driver folder. It seemed to go through fine, there were no error messages or anything. I’m so lost off now though, I’ve been going through so many different things. If that driver is installed now, how can I get the card to detect and connect to networks? :\
