how to enable kdm?

Hi all,

i installed KDE 4.2.2 just today, and when i want to login (after booting) instead of kdm, the xdm shows up. when i want to disable this service in YaST, the whole X system closes and i am taken to pure terminal .

how to fix that ? and after all, is there anyway to downgrade KDE 4.2.2 to 4.2.1 ?

thanks,

Hi,

What exactly have you done so far? Did you have a previous version of KDE installed? I can’t say I know what this xdm is, did you have xfce installed beforehand? How did you install KDE 4.2? There are ways to downgrade to 4.1.3 but first we need to know what you’ve done with your computer so far.

Ian

rpm -qa "*kdm*"

egrep 'kdm|xdm' /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager

su -c "zypper lr -u"

?

well, i did have kde 3.5.9 and then updated to 4.2.2.

and i also had xfce.

Akoellh, could you please explain the codes?

Could you please post the output?

i edited /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager with VI and changed xdm with kdm and the problem is fixed. thanks !
