how to disable smilies permanently

Hi,
Is that possible to please make the “disable smilies in text” an option in the preferences panel, so that one could permanently disable it?
Otherwise one has to select everytime he posts something.
Just saying

Many thanks

If it’s not a built-in feature of vBulletin, then we probably can’t
change the behavior.

Hey horizonbrave:

Are you saying you have to select a smile every time you post? If
that’s what you are saying, I don’t think so. You can totally ignore
smiles in your posts. Maybe I’m not understanding exactly what it is
you’re asking for.

Some forums allow ignore smilies. This forum allows if for an individual post.

So I checked the box for that. If it does what I think, then when I type “:)” that text won’t be replaced by a graphic.

The OP wants to set that in his profile, so that it is automatic for all of his posts, and doesn’t need setting for each post itself.

At least that is how I am understanding the request.

That’s how I read it as well

We can do that but it’s an all or nothing scenario. Either the forum
allows smilies for everyone or for no one. That’s an administrator
decision to make.

Then it is best to leave things as they are (in my opinion).

Please don’t kill the smilies
