I want to install openSUSE 11.1 on my PC but I can’t get the install to allow me to NOT setup a RAID array.
I have two sata HDs, in the first I have a Windows partition, in the second I keep my personal files in the primary partition, and I want to instal linux in the second partition, but the install wont recognize anything, it forces me to format everything and create a Raid setup.
That’s curious. If your current system disks are not in RAID, the installation shouldn’t force you to anything. Don’t you see the option to set your own partitioning during install? Are you using the standard DVD? Did you check the md5?
Just guessing, but isn’t there any RAID-related settings in BIOS that should be off?
Dell Precision 380 - BIOS RAID set to Combination (which is Dell’s option for off) - OpenSuse install still mounts the disks as a RAID and will not easily let you unmount it.
XP is installed on the primary drive - and I would like to install OpenSuse 11.1 on the second drive… I am about to break the installation DVD… all this just to use Xen for some Novell Training (reaching for SUSE Linux 10.0)
