I am using OpenSuse 12.3 on KDE, and I use HDMI to connect to a monitor with built-in speaker.
How can I disable the audio out on HDMI, while using normal 3.5mm as audio out?

You need to select the Audio Profile of “Off” for any sound devices you do not use. Have a look at my blog on the subject:
