how to create a 'repository snapshot'

Hi All

On
Package Repositories - openSUSE
it says
“If you have enough disk space, you can also download a repository
snapshot, but be advised that this can take up to 20Gb or even more.”

How do I do that so that it works?

I have a pc running opensuse that’s not connected to the internet, and I
want to create a DVD or a portable HD with the current ‘update’
repository. Now I tried to download all (and only) rpm files and use
this, but this does not really work, dependencies-wise.

Thanks
Tom

wget or rsync, then point Yast to the local repository.

Uwe

I see, so it really is just a file copying, as I did previously, and I just need to start downloading at the right directory level, if you are correct.

Index of /update/10.3
Index of /update/10.3/rpm
Index of /update/10.3/rpm/x86_64

(the first one I suppose, where I focused on the latter one last time)

Thanks

  • radix121,

here’s an article on Opensuse 10.3, it may contain some useful tips regarding rsync:
