Hi there,
after the tech support of my DSL provider set my Siemens WLAN modem to a Router function, I can connect with my WinXP laptop via wireless, but my linux desktop does not connect anymore.
I was connecting the linux machine via PPPoE prior to setting the DSL modem to being a Router.
Now: how do I set up my Suse 11.1 to get my linux machine back to the internet?
Many thanks,
Knut
It looks you should give more information.
Is the device a modem + 4-port ethernet router + wireless?
Are you trying to connect to the device wirelessly?
The easiest will be to connect to a port on the router with an Ethernet cable, reboot, and with Yast and then knetworkmanager activate the wired connection.
You can investgate further once this succeeds.
Execute this script. If it detects a common error on your system just follow the hints given by the script how to solve the problem on your own.
Otherwise post the contents of the generated file on a nopaste site and then the link in this thread. This will provide most of your network configuration to us so we will be able to figure out what’s wrong on your system.
Hi there,
happy new year!
The connection works today - strangely. Thanks for your help.
The hotline’s technician of my DSL provider said that there was a bad signal/noise ratio for my line. If many people are surfing, this might lead to a lost connection.
Can I measure the S/N ratio myself?
Best,
Knut
