how to connect wireless to internet, newbie question

i am new to linux and i just installed opensuse 11.0 i also got my w200 (orinoco usb) to work, thanks to this tutorial: Lucid Tips » Wireless using W200 on openSUSE 10.3

but it says to:

we need to disable use of KNetwork Manager

right now, my wireless card powers on and is detected. i just don’t know how to connect to an access point which requires a password. this is urgent! help is greatly appreciated!

What sort of encrypted network are you using? If wep, then you should be able to connect in 11.0. If wpa, you need to disable networkmanager and configure your interface to use wpa_supplicant.

You do not need to disable NetworkManager to use WPA. I have been
using WPA and NM since 10.3. You just need to edit a connection using
the NM applet.

i am using WEP. but since i need to disable KNetworkManager, how do i connect via konsole? the card is on and is detected. but when i ran “iwlist eth1 accesspoint” it says something like it cant find an accesspoint. what should i do? thanks

Attempts to run following command for scan accesspoint.
#iwlist eth1 scanning

great! it returned an access point. what should i do to connect it (WEP protected)?
