Hi, I am in openSuse 12.2 hp dv2000 series laptop, 32bit. I have usb_modeswitch installed. When I try to connect to the usb broadband{Tata Photon Plus} it gives me cannot connect.
I have already done setting for mobile broadband in the network connections. But still I can’t connect to it. Can someone provide me instructions on how to connect to it I would really appreciated. [BTW I am on windows and there is no problem connecting to it.]
I found this guide :-
http://www.tataphoton.com/download/dialers/Linux_Installation_Win7_SEC8089.zip
at

also
wvdial - A PPP dialer can be installed through YaST
If you could successfully configure your internet do post a know-how article here so that other users might be benefited https://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/how-faq-forums/unreviewed-how-faq/

I have a diferent provider and different country. In both gnome2 (oS
11.4) and gnome3 (oS 12.1) it works by using network manager. You have
to activate mobile broadband, select a provider from the list, accept,
enter the pin when asked.
When I boot and I plug the dongle, after a longish wait (you can see
what happens by opening a terminal and running “tailf
/var/log/messages”), it automatically does the modeswitch automatically,
and then it request the pin code.
From that point, in 11.4 I have to click on the mobile isp name inside
network manager, and then it asks again for the pin (and previously it
also asked for root’s password). then it connects, hopefully.
In 12,1, I have to click on the mobile isp name inside network manager,
then it connects, hopefully.
12.2 should be similar to 12.1
If at the first stage you enter the wrong pin, it will ask again for it
on the second stage, but fail repeatedly.
In case of failures, unlug the dongle, wait some seconds, replug.
