openSUSE 11.3 or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server/Desktop 11 SP3 ?

if openSUSE it is past its end of life and you should do one of these
things:

  • upgrade to 11.4 or 12.1

  • disconnect the machine from the internet and indeed all networks
having folks who may wish to do you, your system, or company harm

if SLE_ 11 SP 3, contact the maker and supporter at
http://forums.suse.com/ where the same user ID and password used here is
good there…

Hi
Look at the man page for snmpd under the section “LISTENING ADDRESSES”
for the format to use and file to add it to, you might also want to look
in /etc/services to check the port your going to use is listed, else
add it. Don’t forget to open the firewall port if it’s running.
