How to change language settings?

Reinstalled Tumbleweed Plasma with US English and Polish keyboard, and got myself a mixed language system. Menu in apps are mixed. Konsole menu is in English, but the inside it is in Polish. Maybe, this can be corrected?https://ibb.co/QXf22Qn

All, I need is to have the system in English, but with the Polish keyboard.

Telling the system what keyboard layout the keyboard connected to the system has and setting the language where messages/menus/other texts should be translated into (when possible) are two different things.

Also setting a language for the system is allright, but that does not mean that each user can not have his own language setting.

So you probably mixed up a few things?

I am the only user. While installing, I put US English as the language and chose the Polish keyboard and time zone Poland. Nothing else.

That is not important. To begin with the system does not know you, it only has the concept of UIDs and connected user names. It has no concept of human beings that may or may not use one or more of those user names.
And there are much more then you seem to think. Look in /etc/passwd, there are at least about 20.
In day to day practise only the users root and akoya will probably be used on your system by you as a person. Both have their own settings.

And the fact that it is possible to have more active users (Linux is a multi-user system) means that there are personal settings for each user, even if you think that there is only one such user.

That sounds OK.

KDE has it’s own localisation settings for the user. Look in System settinfs > Personal settings, there is Language and more.

It looks like, if you add more languages, Plasma appears to get mixed up. I deleted Polish language from the settings > regional settings > language and left only English. Things seem o have come back to normal. I still have the dual keyboard layouts. I found lot of questions of this type in the internet. I understood something from your explanation, which hadn’t crossed my mind before. Thank you very much!

Glad to be of help. I feel I must add that KDE as it is now is not as clear as it was in 3.5 about it’s locality settings. People have e.g. problems setting their date format to ISO (YYYY-DD-MM) and I have seen more confusion like yours. So it is still not perfect.

You can’t. Except saying, like you did now, that you are satisfied. A thread may still be interesting for people to add infomation.

I had a similar problem. More precisely, I changed my Opensuse System form Version 42 to Tumbleweed, by keeping the old users and partitions, root and home directories. The GUI is in both installation Plasma 5. By the new installation I chose the English as System language. The former System language was German. In Yast and in KDE the language settings is set on English, but some texts were in German and other in English. For instance the Console and the man command were in German, in Yast some text were in Enlish and other are in German.

In the ~/.config/plasma-localerc the LANG was set on de_DE.UTF-8. This was not updated with the new language (English).

My solution:
in ~/.config/plasma-localerc
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
than logout and login again, and everything was on English.
