I have been using Linux past one year and well acquainted with that.I used to face many difficulties when I first started Linux but now I feel more comfortable with it than Windows.I came to know about many applications like blender, gimp etc .I am surprised to know that all this work has been done by guys of my age group.I too decided to contribute my part to this Linux world.I too wanna see the world where all people are free to study and modify the source code of applications with which they will be working daily according to their will.
I know few languages like C,C++,Java, python,PHP and did a few projects in each of them. I have two months summer vacation during which I am free. But I donno where to start.Plz help me guys…
Check out the Google Summer of Code for starters. If you have a favorite
tool that you would like to enhance find its homepage and start
contributing. OSS is all about working on improving existing stuff so if
you have things you can improve in other projects that’s great, and of
course starting your own project is fine too. One thing I try to do is to
check for existing projects, though, because otherwise a lot of
duplication results and time is wasted.
Thanks for the willingness to contribute; that is the heart of all we’re
working for and an embodiment of all the values behind OSS.
Good luck.
