Hi there
Tried to search for this info, but no luck.
I’m trying to install openSUSE via an automation process: when I set the boot order to start from DVD/ISO, the default option is “Boot from Hard Disk”. Is there a way to make the “Installation” option to be the default choice?
I’m using a non-UEFI bios on the VM I’m trying to create.
Thanks
@quasar Hi and welcome to the Forum
The iso image is intended for interactive installation, so not really. You need to be using an appliance for your needs from https://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.6/appliances/ or the likes of Vagrant/Ansible etc to pull an image.
Hey Malcom, thx for yor quick response, much appreciated.
I feared there were no ways of getting that with standard ISOs. I’ll try to play with those images you suggested.
Cheers!
@quasar Well there is AutoYaST? https://doc.opensuse.org/projects/autoyast/
Then, you can always build your own image…
Yes, just edit /boot/x86_64/loader/isolinux.cfg
and set different default.
That’s exactly what I’m using and it worked really fine. The only thing that annoyed me, was the manual step to select “Installation” in the boot menu. Then, everything went completely unattended.
Thanks for this tip, wasn’t able to find that anywhere
I’ll give it a try!
