how to add Make on OpenSuse 12.1: GNU-Make gcc or what ever...

hi linux-fans

firstly i want to apologize for what might seem a pointless question - but - i have trobules with the output of the commandline - do i need a better make - how can i test which make runs on the machine…? an opensuse 12.1

to begin with the beginning: well i have tried to install mechanite:: firefox and believe it or not… the machine also wantet to have json and yes

i had this in the command line - what is the deal with this…

this goes a bit over my head

l…there are a lot of problems there…
though…i don’t know what they are…
how did you install the module…

I installed mine like this:

and it did all the things it needed to do…like dependencies and all configurations and testing…

as for the MozRepl…I’ve installed it through firefox…as an add-on and I didn’t had any issues with it…[/QUOTE]

guess that i have a bad bad make…

I have no idea what your output means, but if your question is howto
install a basic development environment

su -
zypper in -t pattern devel_basis

will install gcc, make, binutils …

well i tried to install Mechanize::FireFox
but this seemed to fail several times… [guess that i have to test if it is installed now or not]

then i added the MozRepl but this seemed to fail also several times… [guess that i have to test if it is installed now or not]

and finally i got aware that it seem to be the MISSIN MAKE … that is thriving the system nuts… No installation goes well - since i do not have a correct make on the machine!? What do you think!?

nux-wyee:~ #

what do you say – guess that there are some things very buggy - but above all: the machine runs a fresh opensuse 12.1 - i do not have install very very much on it untill now…

Start Yast - Software - Software Management check Basic Development for install, click Accept. Let it run, when it’s done you will be able to use ‘make’. Still the sources may complain about missing libs, Install the -devel versions.

And… did you fill that bug report? It appears there is a corrupted repo.

I have not the simplest clue why and for what you posted your repository
list and what it has to do with your original question.
I can only guess that other people also do not know what to do with this
information.

Did you try the command I gave you in post #2?

Just to be clear:
Did you try the command WITHOUT that funny repository mozrepl?

hello Martin good evening.

well above all - i think i have gone many funny way trying to achieve an installation of mozrepl on my openSuse 12.1.
i guess that the best way to install this - is to do this as a mozilla-addon.

hmm - regarding the list of repositories i have no glue - guess it is pretty important to see that the list of repos is (allready now - in these early times and stage- [note there isnt installed very much on this computer] - a bit messed up. At least in my regard it looks like that…

your command - i will run now

su -
zypper in -t pattern devel_basis

see here what the command line will give back…

Passwort:
linux-wyee:~ # su -
linux-wyee:~ # zypper in -t pattern devel_basis

again - the question that arises now… should nt i try to install mozrepl as a Mozilla-plugin (and this means without any regard of playin around with some repos… - and furthermore the question.

Do you think that i have messed up the machine a bit - while trying to do some installation-jobs with the YAST …

What should i do now - what comes first now… !? I am a bit confuses bout the ouptput that i get back while running your command…

look forward to your reply…

greetings

Disable this service mozrepl (whatever that is) with yast. You can
disable it the following way
yast -> software repositories -> the gui opens and shows your repositories
on the right top edge there is a combo box there you can switch to show
the services - do that
Now you should see a list of services (mine is empty) there I expect you
to see a service with mozrepl - delete it

after that try the command again

That repo is obviously broken, remove it, try again, then report that repo
to the proper channels, as the error message says. Why ask us? It is clear.

hi carlos hi martin

sorry for the unconvenience and the troubles. i try to do the needed changes at friday.
afterwards i come back and report all the findings

hello dear friends - hello martin

here some new ideas and reports - some of them in German language - so i suppose that at least Martin can get some more insights ]

this was - by a serious misunderstanding given in the repository-list

url http://repo.hyperstruct.net/mozrepl/1.0/mozrepl.xpi

crazyy but true - i made serious errors in entering such a line as a repository - that was two weeks ago…

this was the first mistake - that subsequently was leading to such error messages in YAST

Fehler beim Herunterladen (curl) für 'http://repo.hyperstruct.net/mozrepl/1.0/mozrepl.xpi/repo/repoindex.xml':

Fehlernachricht: couldn't connect to host

and the following ones

after erasing the service mozrepl i have the following results

linux-wyee:/home/martin # zypper rs mozrepl

what do you say - what should i dßo - i guess that i succeeded in erasing the service called mozrepl and the repository too.

guess that i am ready to do the installation of mozrepl as a Mozilla-plugin…

hmm - this means

no use of the command-line here !?

hmmm - i try to figure out how to add the mozrepl thing as a mozilla-plugin…

i come back and report all my findings.

greetings

You need to close yast when you work with zypper otherwise the
repository and package management are blocked by yast.
