Hello,
I have to reinstall windows and it will erase grub. I don’t want to reinstall Suse 11.2 (it goes great and I’m very new at it) Before taking action I tried with the installation dvd if I’d be able to rescue grub but when I go with “rescue system” it asks me to login, I write my root name and password and it doesn’t accept?
Is there a way I can fix the problem?
Thanks a lot, I started to examine it but can you tell me if the system repair function in the installation dvd does the same? İn the expert mode there is an option: Save boot loader or something like that.
I was working on an another Linux (Pardus) and when I had to reinstall windows, I just saved grub from the installation cd. It was very practical for beginners like me.

If your are booting from the install CD the root name and password I think are both ‘root’.
the DVD
boot from it and on the first menu of options select the Rescue System option. That will start an elementary Linux Live operating system and bring you to the login prompt. Enter the username root and you will be at the command prompt with rootly powers and ready to proceed with my instructions
Thanks a lot.
