How setup internet in openSUSE 12.2

Hi all, finally getting into linux! I installed openSUSE 12.1 from DVD set (I paid for it). It looks awesome so far and the KDE desktop is gorgeous! But I have a lot to learn now - just like 1995 again with my first DOS/Win3 system. That’s the fun! I am unable to get online. I have comcast cable/usb modem. There doesn’t seem to be any clear instructions and I have learned DVD and a couple books. I tried some configuration settings from YaST - network devices/settings, but no good. Funny thing is, when I installed linux mint (my second choice) on an old system just to try things out, I plugged the usb cable in and it came right up - I was online and didn’t have to install or configure anything. So why not in SUSE? Can anyone point me to the procedure for this or explain it here if not too long or complicated? I would much appreciate it! Thanx!!!

Try opening Yast > Network Devices > Network Settings
See if you can configure ifup from there

You confused issues by stating 12.2 in your subject line.

Notice that if you bought the box you have also bought support for
installation, by phone and email.

Also, besides the small paper book in the box, there are more manuals with
help at doc.opensuse.org.
