I assumed that once I had a NET.iso it would always be good to download and install the latest version. I recently tried this with bootable .iso I downloaded several months ago. It did say it was downloading but when my computer restarted, nothing happened.
I created a new bootable iso and everything worked fine. So how long are these NET isos good for before I have to download a new one?
It pretends its going to do the right thing, it downloads updates when the iso doesn’t match the repo metadata. But it then needs to reboot, and since it just downloaded to a ramdisk, it reboots into the exact same problem as it did before, and again pretends like it’s going to do the right thing.
For the TW Net install ISOs, you should always download the latest one when you want to do an installation and then install from it. If you need something that’s longer term, download the full DVD ISO and use it for installations.
I recently did an install (into a VM) using a NET iso that was several weeks old.
Yes, it then downloaded updates to the installer software. And then it restarted. But it didn’t reboot. It just restarted the installer and the analyzing of my hardware.
