How Does KDE4 let me set folder options for nfs sharing?

I recently had to redo my main home server. It’s my back up system and it stores my sound files.

In the past all I had to do at the server end was to enable the yast-nfs server, choose the directories I wanted to export, and then using konqueror, right click on one of the folders to be exported and tell it to export my folder with nfs.

OpenSuse 12.1 comes with Dolphin, and when I right click on a folder the only share options it offers are bloody samba options! I got around my problem by installing KDE3 and using konqueror again, but surely there is a way to do this in KDE4. I’ve searched the forum, and Google, but can’t find an answer.

Can some kind person enlighten me?

Thanks, Bob.

I do it with KDE4 using the YaST-NFS Server methods - it still exists. You may
not have it installed.

No, I do have it enabled, and used the yast-nfs server to choose the folders that were exported. That didn’t work until I set the folder share options with old konqueror.

I guess most users would use the YaST NFS server utility to configure the required shares, however IIRC, Dolphin did used to offer the NFS share support option, and it seems this has been removed:

When I googled a bit, I found this discussion
‘About remove nfs filesharing support’ - MARC](http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-core-devel&m=129354523204221&w=1)

There are a few bug reports around on this subject too.

A quick check of kdenetwork-filesharing reveals samba support only

 # rpm -ql kdenetwork4-filesharing
/usr/lib64/kde4/sambausershareplugin.so
/usr/share/doc/packages/kdenetwork4-filesharing
/usr/share/doc/packages/kdenetwork4-filesharing/COPYING
/usr/share/doc/packages/kdenetwork4-filesharing/COPYING.DOC
/usr/share/doc/packages/kdenetwork4-filesharing/README
/usr/share/kde4/services/sambausershareplugin.desktop

I’d be perfectly happy to use the Yast nfs-server settings to set the folder options but setting the file to be shared doesn’t seem to work until I set folder options in old konqueror. Is there an explanation somewhere?

I’ve never used anything but yast and text tools to export a directory via nfs.

There are lots of guides. For example:

Chapter

The shares can be mounted manually, or with the ‘automount’ service.
