how do we find running distro version?

i am upgrading from 11.0 to 11.1
due to power fails i had to restart the upgrade several times.
i had locked and protected the xorg-server as the livecd is not able to make intel server.

i am still able to boot into kde
how do i find which distro is running??

cat /etc/SuSE-release

linux-3jg0:~ # cat /etc/SuSE-release
openSUSE 11.0 (i586)
VERSION = 11.0
linux-3jg0:~ #

since yesterday i am doing this zypper dup.
now only another 14,8 mb of download left.
that is another 16 hrs.

server gives only 390b/s

do you think this file will say 11.1 after this update?

This kind of speed is weird. Is it coming from your ISP or connection-type ?
If not, what repositores have you configured?

Anyway, with that kind of speed, I would advise you to buy a install DVD, wich has a lot of packages in it, and with the lastversion of opensuse.

Bye bye

i have configured all opensuse 11.1 suggested repos , i think they are all in US. the cable outage in panama canal must be the reason i get such poor service.
the sites within this side of the world work fine.
the connction is 384kbps/sec.
prior to cable failure i downloaded livecd iso from there only in 3 hrs.
till the fault is repaired i cannot get any faster downloads.

i seem to be able to download files from manually much faster.
but where is this zypper keeping the downloaded files?
i could not find the cache/archives.

for zypper dup do i have to configure 11.1 repos?
i have done with 11.0 configs.

Can you use a mirror closer to you?

any of the mirrors i try to configure returns yast could not make folder or something to that effect and then i get error in loading package manager.
the mirror i configure does into serveces.
it does not work at all.:frowning:

I suspect your installation is in an inconsistent state. It would be best to use the DVD Repair System. Or if you can’t do that, re-install all YaST* packages, zypper, PackageKit, plus everything from the Updates repo.
