Hi. I am using OpenSUSE 11.4 64 bit with GNOME. I also use the Tumbleweed and Packman for Tumbleweed repositories. Accoording to uname -r, my current kernel version is 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop.
How do I safely update to the latest stable kernel version?
I am new to OpenSUSE. Please provide step by step directions. Thank you.

Hi,
Got to yast2->install/deinstall software and in the search field, type kernel. Check the kernel-desktop with version 2.6.38-18.1. and click apply. Don,t deinstall your current kernel in case you cannot boot on the new one.
I am in YaST2 -> Software Manager. I entered in kernel-desktop and the only version that I see that is available is my current one. I do see a kernel-desktop-base with version 2.6.38-18.1. I am wondering if I installed the right Packman for Tumbleweed repository. What should I do next?
Now you are asking in two threads
Better post result of

You no longer have 11.4, now you have Tumbleweed, which is for experts, not
firstcommers.

But honestly, looking at all those repos, you are way out of your depth and heading for trouble.
Alright. I will reduce my repositories list. I seem to be downloading the 2.6.38-18.1 kernel desktop right now. Thank you.
It worked. Thank you. I am at 2.6.38-18 kernel desktop again.
