How do I set sound output to mono only? help!

**Hello everyone from newbie on opensuse leap.

Need help/feedback on this question: How do I set sound output to mono only?

Thanks, and sry for stupid question.**:frowning:

You posted this in “How to use the forums”. I assume this has nothing to do with how to use the forums.

I will move this to Applications.

.Now please. provide some information. You do not tell anything about what you are doing and we are not clairvoyant.

  • What version of openSUSE do you use?
  • What Desktop Environment do you use (KDE, Gnome, …)?
  • What program are you using to play sound?
  • Any additional information on what you tried already to switch to mono sound?

Remember we can not look over your shoulder to see what you are doing. We depend 100% on the information you provide.

Thanks to your reply.

1 - openSUSE Leap 15.1
2 - KDE Plasma 5.12.8
3. - Default KDE Plasma settings audio, don’t change anything.
4. - Nope, i’ve tried to find, but not seen the mono enabler or something like that.

Will hope this help.

Here’s a PulseAudio method described…

Thanks for your reply.

Hey. I think I found an easy way to get mono audio output by following this this tip. Just do the following:

Open “Software Center” application > Install EasyEffects > Launch EasyEffects > Select “Output” at the top > Select “Effects” at the bottom > Add Effect > Stereo Tools > Stereo Matrix > “LR > L+ Mono Sum L+R)”

This worked on my Tumbleweed OS with KDE.

I doubt the OP will still be interested after almost two years.
