Do you run that as root (the # in front of the command bugs me)?
You have to run VBoxManage as the user who owns the VMs.

Well you can knock me over with a feather. Running as user works just fine! Duh…,

I was running root because I was reading /var/log files that user couldn’t access.

A lot of research and thought wasted on this simple solution

Oh, and you could remove those as well (on the host that is).

They are installed by default when installing from the LiveCD (they are on the LiveCD to give a better experience when run inside a VM), but on real hardware there’s no use in having them.

They won’t cause any problem though.

Thanks, I’ll remove them. I have enuf problem keeping my head above water so with those removed I think it will help me float better.

To clarify other comments, everything I posted was as host, unfortunately, they were copied from terminal logged in as su and thus wasting a lot of everyone’s time.

Again, there are no errors.
That are just the commands in the Makefile. Those commands would print an error message if you don’t have the kernel source/headers installed.

Yes. Your kernel package versions don’t match!

You have kernel-desktop-3.7.10-1.1.1, but the rest is at version 3.7.10-1.24.1.

So please update your kernel-desktop to 3.7.10-1.24.1, and run “sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup” again. Then it should work.
