How do I resize boot screens from 1024x768 to 1280x800?

Alright, those commands just killed my splash screen and all I see is boot messages at 1024 x 768, but it’s ok. I think it looks pretty cool

None of those commands worked for me. I just installed openSUSE 11 and bootsplash is the only problem I have. I have spent most of the day trying to find out why bootsplash isn’t working. I have searched through the forum and not one of the posts has helped me. Any other ideas?

Running NVIDIA 8500GTx2, Twinview, openSUSE 11.0

I spoke too soon. I found this bug, and after turning off my USB external, my bootsplash is back!

Many people are having problems because other people are suggesting they pick 24-bit modes when editing menu.lst. Bootsplash does not yet provide support for 24-bit colour depth modes:

Therefore, all you need to do is pick a 16-bit mode that is compatible with your system (find out which modes are available: sudo hwinfo --framebuffer)
