Short answer, not really.
Long answer, see any pdf editor for opensuse 11.3?
What you may be better off is using an online service like this or any of many similar sites, worked better than libreoffice (layout issues) or gimp (rasterize everything) when I tried it.
you can use PDF Studio. It’s a commercial app. Or you can use pdfedit, pdfchain etc. Last 2 are free & opensource.
thanks i’ii give them a go
A lot depends on what you want to do with them; broadly speaking you cannot edit them in the normal understanding of the word but, for example, I have used Scribus to complete a single page form that came as a PDF. I have also made a screenshot of a single page, put it in a graphics program and then overlaid the original with text in a foreign language and exported that to PDF so that it looked as if it had been edited but hadn’t. I’ve also separated and combined PDF pages for different purposes. And I’ve exported a complete book as text from a PDF, loaded it into LyX/LaTeX, edited it in that and then exported it as a fresh PDF. So there is a variety of ways of getting round not having a PDF editor as such if you want to do particular tasks.
Thanks, really its just pretty basic text editing that I want to do, I’ll give pdfedit a go.
OK, I’m trying to install PDFedit, I’ve unzipped it and ran configure after installing ‘boost’ files, configure seemed to run well until I got this message right at the end, what do I do now!
checking whether we want to prepare pdfedit-core-dev package… no
checking whether we want to build PDFedit gui… yes
configure: error: QTDIR environment variable must be set
How is the QTDIR variable set
Be advised that some PDFs are protected against those kind of things, and some are even just images… so it’s really a case to case issue… For the most, you won’t be able to edit PDF’s like a normal document, either in Linux or Windows… (Yeah, I know there is Acrobat, but it works when it works and that’s it…)
I can’t help with your custom compilation efforts of pdfedit.
But I am puzzled over why you don’t instead install it from an rpm already built ? Did you search for here? - software.opensuse.org: Search Results

pdfedit has not been developed for a year or more, IINM. It seems that it was written using the KDE3/QT3 API (or something like that) and haven’t been rewritten for KDE4/QT4 (again, or something like that). So it will bring in* all core KDE3 libraries, am I correct?
I tried it once years ago, at the time my impression was that it was the most complete and also somewhat complex to use.
It is still going to use KDE3/QT3 API unless you rewrite it yourself.
Hi,
LibreOffice does the job perfectly (draw)
Obviously. Or probably someone - or some corporation, more likely - that really needs it.
