How do I open a terminal window?

Thank you

If in KDE go to Applications and look for Konsole. Or search for Konsole.

The terminal is used to do the same basic things you would do with your mouse (e.g. clicking icons to open firefox, navigating to a specific file/folder, deleting a file/folder, downloading packages) only you do it from command line using commands that the system recognizes and reacts to.

Another way to launch terminal is to do alt + f2 then type terminal.

If you need help installing Picasa don’t be afraid to ask.

I have the impression it may be worth your while to read up on some basic openSUSE concepts: Concepts - openSUSE

… good luck in your efforts
