I want to install code::blocks on my opensuse 12.1, 64 bit. It is not in the repos, I’ve tried downloading two different .rpm files, they give the following errors:
nothing provides libcodeblocks.so.0()(64bit) needed by codeblocks-7508-28.1.x86_64
and:
nothing provides wxGTK >= 2.8.0 needed by codeblocks-10.05-0.i686
Do not download arbitray rpm’s from somewhere. http://software.opensuse.org
search for codeblocks (without the :

Did you have a look at http://software.opensuse.org? You find it there,
I would not tell you to search there if it would return nothing.
Of course you do not find anything directly in yast. The default
configuration of the system is not to have all existing repositories
enabled. There is a good reason for it.
But sometimes you have the need for a specific software which does not
exist there and that is what the community repositories are for which
can be search with the link above.
compile from source (my favorite choice) or if you do not know how to
do that ask in the forum
google for rpm’s which are most likely for a different linux distro
if you like trouble (and if you know exactly what you do and how to
repair your system if it goes wrong)

It returns nothing for me
I expect I know what the problem is. Clicking on the helpful [new?]
message “Maybe you want to extend your search using the search options.”
does nothing either. I expect the package is in somebody’s home account,
and I believe that page thinks that your crystal ball will magically
know that you have to enable Javascript to discover that hidden feature,
and it further thinks that you believe enabling Javascript is a good
idea. Wrongly in my case.
Not your fault Martin
Just poor and misguided web interface design, IMHO.

It is one of the worst I agree on that but all we have since you
need to know not even the application name but the package name and
sometimes comes up with a pile of useless results to walk through.
is not available for 12.1 and you have to fall back to some users
personal builds.

No problem.

Btw has anyone tested if webpin works with 12.1?
That would be the better way to search. I’ll check it later I am now on
a 11.4 machine.

To answer my own question: webpin does not work
