I installed Tumbleweed 42.3 on my laptop with KDE as the default desktop and also installed GNOME. On an older SuSE KDM listed GNOME as an alternate desktop. However, the session list on my new install only shows KDE and ICE. How do I configure it to also allow GNOME? Thanks.
What are you using for login?
On the “sddm” login screen, the choices is near bottom left of the screen.
I don’t know about “kdm”, which I have not used for a while.
With “lightdm” the choices is top right in the panel at top of screen.
Or maybe you didn’t actually install Gnome. To install Gnome in Yast Software Management, select the “Patterns” view and then select “Gnome Desktop Environment”. You might have only installed part of Gnome.
In kdm there should be an icon in the bottom left corner for choosing the desktop session.
Though that may be dependent on the used theme (like with other DMs as well…)

In particular, you’d need to install gnome-session to make it appear on the login screen.
The bottom left of the screen is a virtual keyboard button. To the right is a button for the session, with menu values of IceWM Session, IceWM and Plasma. Bottom right is the % of power remaining.
I’ll try selecting the Gnome pattern is Yast and see whether that fixes it. Thanks.
That’s probably the SDDM login screen.

Good move.
