How do I do md5 on downloaded ISO?

so i downloaded suse 11.1 32 bit and I read the sticky but when i type the md5sum+filename it does not work, is there any other way I can do a md5 or know that my download isn’t corrupt?

What OS do you have it on? Windows? Linux? Mac? Something else? My crystal ball is not working today. :stuck_out_tongue:

Here are some directions on the OpenOffice website.

Using Md5sums

Hope it helps.

opensuse 11.1

any way to check files that have already been downloaded before the addon is installed?

Open a terminal window, and do:

cd directory-where-the-ISO-is
md5sum nameofISOfile.iso

I did md5 (copypasta of filename on desktop) but it doesn’t work
how do I know the code of the cd directory/ISO?

Should be if you open with k3b
k3b will give you a check sum

terminal process is from the directory it is located

md5sum downloaded.iso

Just to help:
open a terminal and type
cd Desktop

then do the md5
it takes a while

used Konsole: cd desktop

No such file or directory

I tried it with the correct casing this time

:~/Desktop> md5sum openSUSE-11.1-DVD-i586.iso

but nothing’s happening now, the Konsole seems to be stuck

after 10 mins the md5sum appeared on Konsole, checked with several sourced on the internet and it seem to be right

thanks everyone!

You still have to burn it and run the media check on the cd or dvd
