It might be obvious, but I can’t figure it out. I would have thought you can just right-click and an option would be there to add to desktop, but I only see add to favorites. What am I missing?

Unlock widgets
Drag and drop the icon from the main menu
Try to go to start menu–>personal folder–>desktop(1)
Then open again your start menu and transfer a program in desktop(1)
Additionally,
Once you’ve unlocked your desktop, your default Desktop Folder is only a pointer to an actual directory (which you can place objects both as caf4926 describes and also within Dolphin which doesn’t require unlocking widgets). You can also modify the Folder View’s properties to point to a different directory or even add additional Folder Views (which I personally have) pointing to other directories.
