I was wondering … how can I make the XFCE desktop look like the old gnome2 desktop of opensuse ??? is that possible ??? … if it is … how can I accomplish this ??? … once I installed gnome 3 on opensuse 11.4 … I no longer can use my old gnome2 … so … I tried xfce ! … and it is nice … fast … lightweight ! … but … can I make it look like the gnome2 desktop ? … how close to that old look can I get … the menus etc …??? … !
Got it working fine ! and it looks like my old gnome2 desktop now !!! …
for the ones who are interested in having their old gnome2 desktop look in OpenSUSE 11.4 with fxce … just install the XfApplet plugin, and it will permit you to install the default gnome panel menu in xfce desktop …
Once the xfapplet is chosen in the panel preferences on the items tab … you will need to go on the panel once it is there … and right click on it to choose properties … to choose the default gnome menu of your desktop …!

Advice?
Nononono.
This sub forum is for you to explain to us how to do that.
We learn, you teach us.
We are not here to advice you: We are here to read your howto writeup and
comment on it.

I noted this thread was moved to the applications area by one of my fellow moderators. I am replying to the 1st two posts so that our NNTP users have a hook in which to reply to this post.
I’ll also move some ‘hanging’ threads from the how-to area to join this thread, so to clean up things on the web side.
Ls_Don_X, in future, please do NOT post threads in the How-To-FAQ area. Thankyou !
