Andy

Dear deltaflyer44,

Can give me the unwanted services i am using this system for only internet brwosing , email client and office application

) disable/uninstall beagle what is this

If you open YaST>System>System services you will find a list of services that are running. You will be able to disable several of them if you are only browsing the internet.

Don’t go mad and disable ones you don’t understand but, if you definitely know you are not using a service, disable it.

I did that but still slow i keep swap space 3GB using mkswap

Swap space will not help you speed up.

Go into Yast, remove Beagle in the software managment.
That will help a little.

What will help you immediately, is adding RAM.
With 256 MB of RAM it’s possible to run, but you’ll swap. If you swap, you
slow down. A lot.

try updating to 512 MB. I’ll make all the difference.
And most of the time, you won’t ever need more.

Use icewm or xfce. Stay away with gnome and kde for 256 RAM.
