How can I contribute to openSuSE?

Does openSuSE still make those excellent big box sets with printed materials and CDs + DVDs like in the days of 7.0?

I really enjoyed purchasing that, felt like one was contributing to the greater good as well as getting loads of value for the money.

Is there another way to contribute to openSuSE financially?

Nope.

There is a company that makes some of it, but not recently. The company
exists, though.

Not unless you have huge money to become an sponsor. There is no foundation.

Pity about the box sets…

But it is good to know that openSuSE is financially stable and not dependant on small user contributions for survival. I will contribute upstream to KDE directly then

We particularly welcome intelligent forum members with skills and common sense to contribute time and energy to the forum.

caf4926, great suggestion. I will definetly attempt this as well and assist where possible.

Indeed.
Rather than the boxes, I miss the paper books.

I don’t know if it is that stable. AFAIK, openSUSE as such can not
manage money, because it doesn’t have a legally recognized organization
that cand do those things. It is something they still have to do. There
are employees hired by SUSE doing things for openSUSE, there are
contributors working for free, there is SUSE lending computer rooms and
such… as I understand it, openSUSE owns nothing with direct money
value, or pay taxes, receive income…

That is different from needing more people or hardware; there are things
that were dropped for lack of resources.
