Planning to make an external nvme SSD my backup PC

As the title notes, I am thinking to buy an inexpensive external nvme SSD enclosure, place a new 512 GB or 1 TB nvme SSD in it, install openSUSE-15.6 on it, and make this my ‘new backup laptop’ (sort of).
