how best format HD before installing opensuse

How can I best format HD before installing opensuse 11?
I intend to install from Live installer but always have on reboot only Grub prompt…so I want to begin from the begin…:shame: :shame:

in my opinion, the best way is simply to download a copy of suse 11, the dvd preferrably, and don’t do anything with hard disk, boot from the dvd and then choose formatting options when it asks you, it’s really quite easy. if unsure when it does ask you, don’t hesitate to ask more questions. as a general rule i would say partition as following:

swap partition - make it the same as how much RAM you have (i.e. if you have 2GB RAM, make it a 2GB partition)

root partition - if you have room, 15-20GB should be enough easily.

Home partition - whatever room you have left

hope this helps.

The installer will do the formatting for you. Just throw it in and on
the Partitioning step you can even choose which partitions to format,
which filesystems to use, etc.

Good luck.
