hostname is dynamic: IPnumber-pool
Can i change this to a fixed hostname? ( always the same)

Yast > System > Network configuration. There is a tab Hostname/DNS. Fill in.

i read your question differently from the other two who have answered…
you say hostname, but your “dynamic: IPnumber-pool” makes me think you
have a dynamic IP and instead want the same IP all the time (also know
as: static IP) is that correct?
if so, that is not something you can just change in your machine’s
hostfile setup…instead it is something to coordinate with your ISP
if connecting at home (and you can expect to have to pay extra for a
static IP), or between you and your network administrator if
connecting at work/school…
you can also use a service like http://www.dyndns.com to make a
dynamic IP appear to be static…
caveat: i am not affiliated with dyndns.com (who has a FREE level) and
there are many others available…i just don’t know their name and
have not used them…
