I am trying to find an easy, High Power Range Extender that will cover 10,000 sq. ft. at the minimum. Are there any decent Linux capatible range extenders.
So I use a Netgear Extender model WN2500RP, $80 US Rated for 5500 Square feet that works great for me. A quick search on the internet found three units you can look at all rated for 10,000 Square feet. Amped Wireless models are SR10000 for $100 US, SR20000G for $140 US and a REA20 for $200 US (Amped Wireless - Extending your Wireless Life, High Power Wireless Solutions). Range Extenders must be compatible with the main Wireless unit instead of your PC per say. My main Wireless is also Netgear model WNDR4500 which helped me select the extender and the price was right.
Thank You,
Sorry, but the Amped Wireless SR1000 does NOT work on Linux period. I have one sitting on my desk, that is fixing to go back to Amped. According to the Tech’s NONE of the AMPED’S WILL WORK UNDER LINUX. They don’t use OPEN SOURCE CODE…
Sorry to hear about that. You did not say to exclude them and I just found them due to the 10,000 Square Feet match. When I installed my Netgear unit, I was able to use the buttons on each unit to pair them up and never had to do anything at all from my Linux machine, so the working part was just based on my experience. What brand of Wireless router do you have now and what does that company offer in the way of extenders?
Thank You,
