I’ve been noticing on several computers that Ktorrent is using a lot of cpu lately. Constantly between 65-85% from what I’ve seen.
Anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

check running processes
and try running: top
from a terminal
PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
20 0 264m 110m 22m R 88.8 14.5 36:59.21 ktorrent
Are you running many KT plugins and have you tried switching them off?
Same here using 47% CPU with no plugins activated
EDIT noticed that if i removed all files the CPU usage went down to 0
Geoff
Does it make any difference if you have or don’t have any torrents active?
Yes see EDIT below
Ok. I just tried ktorrent on my laptop. Running kde3, but using kde4’s ktorrent.
cpu when downloading suse 11 dvd torrent @ 1%
I tried shutting down all the plugins and stopping all the torrents, but no change in the cpu load.
Hi,
Here is some info about it. The problem’s going to be fixed by the end of the week. But does this mean that at that time Packman will also provide a new version of KTorrent?

The Packmen and -women usually are d@mn quick in packaging.
[Can’t reproduce the mentioned symptoms on my sys though, cpu is between 1 and 6% with 17 active torrents running, my computer is not the newest (1GB RAM, Athlon XP 1600+)]
Edit: I can reproduce it with the metioned PirateBay-torrents. “Zeitgeists” from btjunkie still work smooth.
(Sorry for double-posting, is that 10-minute-restriction going to last? Not very handy…)
It’s been fixed with the latest version (3.14)
I’ve encountered the same problem a few days ago and I’m glad that it’s been fixed by now. Version 3.1.4 is already available at Packman.
