High CPU waiting when use some application

Hi…

I am running SUSE11.1 in compaq 2100 presario laptop. I am getting high waiting time(90-95%)>:( when i use some application like open office. even i get approx 3-4% waiting time when system is in ideal state. Can anybody tell me, what may be the reason and how to resolve it?

Please clarify: Do you mean processor idle time?

An easy way to find out what is running is to open a terminal and type top.

That will show what is running, and also how much CPU time it uses.

You can then either copy the contents of the window and post them here, or take a screenshot and post it so that someone can see what is going on.

To quit top simply close the terminal with the close button, or press ctrl-c.
